IEC ESOL Exams
International Exam Centre ESOL exams are designed for all age groups and follow the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) guidelines.
These exams assess the four key language skills — listening, reading, writing, and speaking — and feature student-centred, up-to-date, communication-focused tasks.
Exam content and skill-aligned materials are regularly reviewed and updated by the International Exam Centre’s global exam coordination team.

Exam Features
• IEC ESOL exams are conducted twice a year (Step 1 and Step 2).
• Each student receives a detailed report highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.

IEC ESOL Very Young Learners (VYLE) Exams
• Designed for kindergarten and lower primary school students.
• Assesses speaking and listening skills.
• Exam activities are interactive and enjoyable, ensuring students experience English positively without stress.
• Each student is individually assessed and receives a level-appropriate report and participation certificate.

IEC ESOL Young Learners Exams
• Targeted at ages 6–12 and assesses four core skills.
• Applied at PRE A1, A1, and A2 levels.
• Includes gamified tasks and engaging activities to maintain motivation.
• Students receive a detailed report and certificate reflecting achievements, including a star system for skill progress.

IEC ESOL Academic (Capital) Exams
• Suitable for secondary school, high school, and adult learners.
• Assesses all four skills from A2 Plus to C1 levels.
• Focuses on practical and academic language use.
• Detailed reports allow students to track their progress and plan learning steps.
• Certificates are based on international standards and support documenting language proficiency.

Dear Friends,

Education is a continuous process — a lifelong journey of learning, growth, and transformation. Today, cultural, social, technological, and economic developments are taking place at an incredible pace. One of the most important goals of educational institutions is to raise qualified individuals who can adapt to the demands of our time and embrace universal values. In achieving these goals, foreign language proficiency has become a key element.
Proving foreign language competence through internationally recognized certification, monitoring progress at a global level, and planning future steps based on measurable data are the shared objectives of every individual and educational institution. International Exam Centre was established with the purpose of providing professional and excellent service to fulfil this very mission.
We set out to support educational institutions that aim to provide the highest quality language education to their students — to serve as their trusted examination partner and contribute to their educational goals. My dream has been to carry forward my more than 35 years of experience with the British Council, offering the same level of excellence through our own examination centre, and to continue contributing to this field for many years to come.
